Felted Objects At Cooper-Hewitt

from March 6 – September 7, 2009, the Cooper-Hewitt features the “Fashion Felt” exhibition containing incredible & beautiful felted objects from a traditional yurt (a trellis-frame tent covered with thick, humble felts made from raw sheep’s wool) to felted rocks (seen above). Read more about this exhibition and how the ancient art of felting has made a comeback.

It’s rare to find a contemporary book with such clarity which details the details of typography. This book serves as a handy desktop reference book yet is chocked full of details for a more in-depth study of typography.

Shepard Fairey In Japanese

I have a passion for, and am intrigued by, textile designs. Their repetitive nature of creation is so similar to techniques found in web background images. Shepard Fairey has an interesting selection of prints based on fabric patterns, including this one called “Japanese Pattern Fabric Set Red/Blk.” Visit the everything-Shepard site to see more.

Created by Pentagram, the newly re-designed Gallup.com offers well-organized info-bites highlighting, what I would guess are, some of the higher trafficked and requested information Gallup has available. This is an amzing use of typography to create clear and legible bits of information. This site is a must-review for anyone who follows, tracks and uses information.

Video patch extracts and compares words taken from three news websites (italian, european and global). Structure created interacts in real-time with audio frequencies and is partially sequenced. Video patch sends back triggers to audio section generating audio-video interaction feedbacks. Words extracted and decontextualized are constantly remixed in the patch, obtaining new meanings or creating a kind of subliminal messages. Everytime the patch is run, structures, camera movement or the news-of-the-day change, making it in part unpredictable.
